Driving provides freedom and a practical means to get around – we know that and appreciate the special challenges facing seniors. There are several reasons why seniors seek out driver evaluations and refresher courses:

• Medical (deteriorating vision, ongoing disability, or other condition affecting driver performance and confidence)
• Family or physician suggested driver evaluation
• Car insurance deduction (contact your car insurance provider for details)
• General interest in skill update

Mature drivers at or above the age of 80 should take a vision test as well. We recommend supplementing a vision test with our refresher courses for a full evaluation of your current strengths and weaknesses as a driver.

Basic Test Information

• Tests are given in a Certified Driving School car by appointment only.
• After students take the driving test they may go to a Tag Agency the same day to get the new driver license.
• Students wishing to take the Driving Test at Certified must have completed a Driver Education program at a state certified driving school, a public or private school, or a state approved parent taught online driver education course. Students not meeting one of these requirements can test only if 16 1/2 years old or older and if he/she has held a Learner Permit for at least 6 months.
• Students under the age of 18 must have an Oklahoma Learner's Permit for 6 months or until the age of 18 to be eligible to test.
• Students 18 or older must have an Oklahoma Learner's Permit for 31 days.
• Driving schools are able to test students an unlimited number of times. After a failure students must wait one day to retest. After 3 failures (at any school or DPS station), students must wait 30 days to retest. (example: if a student tests at DPS and fails, tests at school B and fails, tests at school C and fails, that is considered 3 failures).
• At the time of the test, students must provide their Learner's Permit, a certificate of completion from their driving school and the test fee. The Learner's Permit should show the correct name and current address.
• After the driving test, students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the Tag Agency or have a notarized affidavit signed by a parent or legal guardian if a parent is not present.
• The test fee is $125 for a 45 minute practice and then a test. This can be paid with a credit card online at the time of enrollment or in cash on your test date. Re-testing is no charge but will be done as our schedule allows.
• All students and adults are welcome! Incidence of passing using this method is greatly improved by using this pretest method. Certified tests using cones on parallel parking rather than parking between real cars to enhance student's safety and reduce anxiety. ( Other local schools test between cars.)
